No camping fees - appears to be primitive camping only
Boat launch ramp permit: $10 - see link on event website
Info from Marilyn: "Camping is available and yes, FREE. It's a half mile long island with a sandy beach. There is some shade on the island, but mostly we pitch our tents in the sand and roll sun dried logs over for our fires. I'm not quite sure how this works, but someone's camp-site usually turns out to be the place where most gather for a fire-side chat. It may have something to do with the size fire one builds. :) Those small portable, nylon and aluminium chairs are a most-have :) Usually, through the Messabout emails, people talk it up about who's going to be there and what day they are arriving. You asked about the current?... The Columbia River is a calm and regulated by up-stream dams, a sedate one and a half knots. The modus-operandi for the morning sailing seems to be launch and drift downstream at one and a half knots and when the afternoon wind picks up, take a broad reach back to the campsite. If you like high performance sailing, it's not uncommon for the winds to blow 15-18 knots. The channel is extremely well marked and is frequented 24-7 by commercial traffic. Those big-boys can create some rather intimidating surge when their bow-wakes hit exposed beaches.
