I got to the Lighthouse park ramp around 12:30 or so on Saturday ...met up with a couple small boats and their crews who introduced themselves and sounded enthusiastic to be there... I believe they were from central Florida, Orlando I think.

We Launched the Sharpie and Motored up to the beach at Anastasia Island Park. While Motoring I had another small boat MB crew approach us and asked questions about the Sharpie and it's designer (me:)...

since we didn't have the jib up we would be all day so we dropped the motor and Motorsailed back to the lighthouse...

We landed at the park, anchored the Sharpie off the beach and hung out for a while... walked around the dunes and the park a bit... then we set up the rig and motored on up towards the inlet. We stopped and raised the main and began to sail back towards the Lighthouse... about 5 minutes into the sail the wind clocked around and died down to almost nothing...:(.. we ghosted along for a bit, then decided since we didn't have the jib up we would be all day so we dropped the motor and Motorsailed back to the lighthouse...

My Better half was on the Lighthouse pier taking pics as we approached and passed...we are hoping we may recieve some pics from other participants...if so we'll pass them on...I know of at least four boats and about a dozen people (not counting spectators) that made the messabout... at any rate, speaking for myself, I (and my crew and freind "Snake") had a great day. The weather on Sat was great (too bad Sunday weather was dismal) and we are firmly planning another St Augustine Messabout in the Spring (see calendar) ... the Lighthouse and Anastasia Island areas seemed to work out well. We'll be sure to Keep you informed and hopefully more advance notice will result in more attendance in the Spring...
