Dear Chuck,

Once again my punishing business schedule has taken me to the Mediterranean, at St Tropez. Between lunch (two hours) and dinner (five) I staggered round the harbour and spotted these pretty traditional boats. Has anyone had experience with lateen sails? Is there anything that makes them suitable for the Med but nowhere else?
