I see that these comments are of limited size. I was saying that the real reason these lights are so bright is that they are using Luxeon LEDs. LEDs can be focused with lenses or with parabolic reflectors. When using a reflector, it does not matter which way the LED is pointed. This orientation is just a gimmick that is no better or worse than any other Luxeon flashlight. I would suggest checking the internet review sites for LED flashlight

I have followed the emergence of LED lighting over the last five years with great interest. I have built a number of flashlights using the small 5mm version and the larger Luxeon version. I also read internet reviews of LED lights with regularity(http://www.flashlightreviews.com/index1.html). I find that I must disagree with Mr. Ostlind's assertion that Pelican has scored an engineering hit with the Recoil configuration. The real reason that

I do a fair bit of rough camping in the fall in Michigan's UP. My friend and I carry several small lights, including several LED models. Chris has piqued my interest in the recoil technology, however.
Chris's feedback for Pelican conveys his first hand practical experience with lighting applications of this type - Great suggestions! (I hope they hear him and listen).

This will be a great feature. I shopped and reasearched a headlight for the Colorado 100 and did not know one from the other.
Anything Chris says, I believe. I can't wait for him to complete the Stasis7 construction plans. I want to build two. One for my wife for a pleasant cruise to England.
