Skin on Frame
Sandra got the skin on the kayak yesterday. She
was not real sure how it would go, but I think she made a good
job of it
First the canvas is draped over the frame:
I guess I forgot to take any pictures of stapeling
the bottom. It was fairly straight forward. We used a cheap
electric Arrow stapler.
After the bottom was stapled and trimmed, she
covered the decks with the scraps.
Then the side decks
Finally, all was trimmed. The next step was to
wet the whole thing to shrink the fabric. Sandra wondered if
we had mistakenly got pre-shrunk fabric, as there did not seem
to be much shrinkin' goin' on. Good thing she got the skin nice
and tight in the first place.
Next comes six coats of paint...
