Well, here is my first attempt at boat building. I carve
wooden duck decoys, and had a notion to make a boat, and there you were
DUCKWORKS! I knew it was meant to be. I chose Jim Michalak's
Jonsboat for the simplicity. I have included a few pictures. I
am currently three weekends in to it. I am surprised at how fast this boat
is assembled. just a side note..... I originally cut the seat
assemblies for storage beneath, but decided to make them solid to maximize
the amount of flotation foam to be used. I also decided to use 'Gorilla
Glue" which is a true waterproof adhesive. Very messy....very strong.
Depending on the boats performance with a 10horse, I may consider building
a stand up center console to press forward some weight in turn allowing a
larger motor. The cleats, and bow light came from an old Chris Craft boat
That I had attempted to fix up about 14 years ago.
